PROFORM SOFTWARE
From the outset I was very impressed by the set-up of Proform. Instructions on how to upload the software are simple and straightforward and if you have any problems help is only an email away (and these are replied to very quickly).
Once uploaded the main database is ready to use, but it is also necessary to have the daily downloads for declared runners and results. You are informed via email when the runners and result downloads are ready and these are easily uploaded by a simple press of a button, however if left for more than a one day I found that it could take quite some time to download with a 56k modem.
What does the software have to offer?:
• 9 years of form and ratings • Full Draw statistics • A Horse Pattern Matcher (from my point of view as a profiler this was extremely useful) • A Betting manager (to record and analyse your bets) • A Horse Watcher which lets you know when a selected horse is running
Plus a lot more…..

Above is opening screen from Proform, from here you can navigate to all other areas of the software. The top bar lets you select a particular race and from here you can decide whether to look at the horses form in full or just Turf/AW form - which proves very handy for the winter game.

After selecting a race you can decide what areas you want to look at. Here I am using the horse pattern matcher I found this part of the software the most useful as at a glance I could see the horses full profile, which includes the following information:-
• Race Type and Course (LH/RH, sharp etc) The conditions for the particular race you are viewing are highlighted in yellow. • Going and Weight • Class and Field Size • Time of Year • Jockey and Draw
These are well presented and very easy to follow and in my opinion this area alone is worth the price of the software and updates.
You can also make notes about each horse, this was excellent for my own personal use as I could add from my book all the positive and negative trends for each horse.
As well as looking at a horses profile you can also look at a trainers’ profile, for the relevant race, which is laid out in exactly the same format. This I also found useful as I could check a trainers record on the track and in the relevant type of race (Chase, hurdle etc).

This screen shows another area that members of the forum here may find interesting, the draw statistics. The stats are broken down by course and distance and again are easy to follow providing Wins to runs with a percentage for each one - there is also a column for profit and loss for each stall.
This screen contains the trainer/jockey stats for the relevant race and again I found this useful when looking at certain jockey bookings.
The last screen I have downloaded is the preference screen this allows the user to alter the appearance of the information that appears. It is necessary to use this screen to specify the number of years you wish to analyse as the software by default, is set to look at only 1 year of form.
I would certainly recommend this software as it is very easy to use and is full of useful information which can be enhanced with your own notes. The support services are excellent and there is even a forum for software users!
The price currently is £36.00(a one off payment) for the database and if you order 40+ weeks of updates these work out £10.25 a week.
